Gamers and Grand Theft Auto fans have been eagerly awaiting the PC release of the much acclaimed title. So far, however, there’s been no official word, and very little word in the rumor mills. There is hope, though – several locations are offering Grand Theft Auto V steam keys, with a potential realease date sometime in the summer of 2014.
That can mean the game could be released anywhere from July to September, but remember: Rockstar hasn’t given any official input yet. The stores selling the keys know as much as anyone else, and everything about a PC release at this point is pure speculation.
However, there is a petition making its way around the web with over 600,000 signatures. Gamers are baying for the title to be released on more platforms, and Rockstar knows this; the upcoming Xbox One and Playstation 4 have Grand Theft Auto V in their lineups later this year. An upgraded version of the game taking advantage of the graphical power of the two new systems has many gamers all but drooling at the possibility.
There is a very real possibility that Rockstar wants to take things slow after the rough start up of Grand Theft Auto Online, their first venture with this series into online play. The first month of the game saw severe technical issues that made it all but unplayable at times, and resulted in Rockstar granting in-game rewards to the players as compensation.
With this in mind, any upcoming PC release will be phenomenal; Rockstar will have taken care of the issues faced on the console versions of the game, and the modding community will have the entire city of Los Santos to play with. The possibilities are endless.
Grand Theft Auto almost always makes its way to the PC, and there is no reason the fifth installment should be any exception. The key is to be patient.
Go ahead and pre-order, but be ready to switch; there’s no telling what kind of goodies stores might include as bonus content for pre-orders. Keep an eye on gaming news for the latest announcements about Grand Theft Auto V for the PC.
