GTA V PC Release Pegged For Early 2014

Published on November 6, 2013

Speculations are still flying thick and fast about the looming release date for a PC version for Rockstar’s blockbuster video game, “Grand Theft Auto 5”. Historically, Rockstar has released PC versions of its bestselling GTA games in the first quarter of the year following worldwide console release, leading many marketing and investing professionals to speculate that a PC version could become a reality sooner than later.

The Importance of Exclusivity

Though no release dates have been announced by Rockstar Games for a PC version, rumors abound after PC Gamer published comments made by Chris Silva, director of marketing for Intel’s premium notebooks. “I don’t think it’ll be console-exclusive very long. But that’s what happens when you have a brand new launch with two companies that have lots of money trying to make sure they have content,” says Silva during the PC Gamer interview. “Somebody paid a lot of money to make sure that title was exclusive.”

In a competitive industry where content is king, the value of exclusivity cannot be underestimated, leaving the impending release date still just a glimmer on the horizon.

Gamers Sign Online Petition

In the midst of these rumors and guesses, almost 600,000 fans have signed an online petition to Rockstar Games, asking for a PC release with no more waiting.

The petition, a succinct but heartfelt plea to the gaming gods, calls the modifications PC play allows in GTA games “some of the most insanely fun times you can have,” and requests immediate release ” on the most powerful platform.” Although fans are getting restless, the game promises to well worth the wait, as past PC iterations have contained many improvements.
